Make sure you eat well before hand
For some people, working out in the early morning hours is the only free time they have to put toward exercising. So maximizing this short workout window is extremely important to get the most out of it. The big recent debate comes in on whether you should eat or not beforehand.

Regardless of what you’ve heard, or what you think, you cannot show up to your workout with your gas tank on empty. In this writer’s honest opinion, fasting is just out of the question. You have to fuel your body. Now, we want you to understand that there is a huge different between eating and fueling.

Before your early morning workout, you can scramble a few eggs and munch on some turkey bacon. However, this is eating and not properly fueling. This is equivalent to substituting water for gasoline in your car’s engine. Both are liquids, but only one of them is a proper fuel.

If you really want to get the best results from your workouts, you have to change your mindset about eating for fuel rather than just feeding your body. There’s a huge difference when you eat for a purpose instead of just eating because you can. In summary, you should fuel your body before an early morning workout. We’re going to talk more about this in our next post. Be sure to join us for part two of this series where we’ll be talking about the best early morning fueling tips and options.
